Everyone has something they are good at doing. Moreover, while it’s possible to be a jack of all trades, finding that one thing that makes you tick is a big step towards living a fulfilling and happy life, some people already know what they are passionate about, while others are trudging through life without a clue.
One thing is sure: it takes a series of experiences and constant self-evaluation to identify your passion. It may not be all peaches and cream, but it is worth it. You will be so much happier channeling your time and effort towards what you love as opposed to settling for whatever comes your way
Devoting your time to what you are passionate about helps you to be creative and learn new ways of doing things. You become receptive to new experiences and develop new perspectives when you push yourself out of your comfort zone. Growth as a function of living your passion will open more opportunities for you and may even end up being your source of livelihood.
Everyone encounters challenges. Juggling the daily stresses of life, like school, family, and your career, may lead to anxiety and wreak havoc on your mental health. When you identify your passion, you can always lose yourself in it to escape uncomfortable situations and find peace of mind.
It is easy to be depressed or dabble in unhealthy activities when you don’t have a safe way of dealing with stressful circumstances. For example, before I found my passion, I was feeling depressed and without purpose. To escape from the depression, I would overindulge in food. The vice can differ, depending on the individual.
While I ate to escape reality, some people may engage in more hazardous ways of dealing with stress. By finding and doing what you enjoy, rather than resorting to unhealthy habits, you minimize stress and sadness and create a personal haven for your peace of mind.
Imagine waking up every day to go to a job you dislike! It becomes a burden, and sooner or later, it will take a toll on your overall well-being. When you find your passion and commit to pursuing a job in line with it, you will be willing to sacrifice and put in extra time to achieve your goals. Your productivity will improve, and what's more, you will be contented. Every task you accomplish will instill in you a sense of fulfillment and lead you to live a happy life.
You don’t need to feel miserable if you haven’t found your passion yet. Start by identifying what you enjoy doing, and you will be well on the path to happiness.
